Emotional Health Awareness

How are you feeling? …. Do you know?… please check in with yourself and take care.

When our emotional health is in a bad state, so is our level of self-esteem. We have to slow down and deal with what is troubling us, so that we can enjoy the simple joy of being happy and at peace with ourselves.”  ― Jess C. Scott

Emotions are energy moving, though the difficulty is that they are not noticed, often held and pushed down, then getting stuck and festering… and unbeknownst colouring a day or a week or even longer – often we are unaware and not willing to be with our own emotions as we don’t enjoy being aware of the not so positive ones – yet they contain a message for us – if we reflect, feel them and help them move through we can understand their source learn from it change it for next time. Often these emotional cycles can be resolved and lead to permanent change.

By not paying attention, that is where the troubles begin and so a moment to reflect and be compassionate with ourselves is invaluable and supporting ourselves with good friends, a time out, creating, being in nature and expressing, moving them through – all can help.

Emotional health is vital to our overall well being. Paying attention to our own emotions and being aware and questioning why and how can we do it differently is important.

Awareness and support:

  •  How is your outlook generally -is the glass half full or halfcup half full empty? – as I recently read on Facebook : ) let’s be thankful something is in the glass and it’s not empty
  •  Helping others in need is a great way to get perspective and an emotional lift – Check out our Give First page to give daily, volunteer at a food bank, school or hospital
  • Sharing how you feel with those in your life and really listen to those around you
  • Keep a daily journal and write down how you feel and why and how could it be different
  • Physical exercise will get your endorphins charged giving you an emotional lift
  • Meditation to relax and reenergize
  • Take 5 or 10 – take some time for yourself have a cup of tea, read a book, go for a walk, have a bubble bath; do something for you and listen… for your treasures within

To help … good friends, a journal, a time of retreat or meditation often help puts the circumstance and the emotions in perspective and ultimately we know we are more than our emotions – they are guideposts to uncovering ways to grow and be happier and at peace. And knowing we’ve been listened to, cared about, thought about goes a long way to strengthening our emotional health, by ourselves and by others – slow down, love yourself – stop and listen.

How do you support your emotional health?
What’s your favourite way to resolve and release.
